Launching on Solana
On Solana, a token is paired with an xStock, a crypto asset or a memecoin, sells on a Meteora bonding curve and graduates into a Meteora pool whose liquidity is locked for good. Whoever launches it picks the fee and who gets the token's share of it: its holders or the creator.
How a launch works
- Choose Solana in the launch wizard, then one of the pairs open that day.
- Pick the fee, 1.6%, 2.4% or 3.2%, and who receives the token's share of it: the holders or you. Both are fixed for good. See Fees on Solana.
- You sign a message with the token's name, symbol, description, links and image, then the two transactions of the launch.
- If you close the page between the two transactions, the same browser offers to finish the launch for up to 14 days.
- Your first buy can go in the second transaction, and then it pays the launch's fee instead of the 99% snipe fee. Sent on its own, even as the first swap, it pays the snipe fee.
- With SOL as the pair, the site wraps and unwraps SOL for you, so your wallet only holds plain SOL. With SOL and a first buy, the name and the ticker together take 38 characters at most.
What it costs
About 0.022 SOL of rent for the accounts a launch creates, plus network fees and a 0.01 SOL launch fee. The rent and the launch fee are not returned.
The launch settings
| Supply | 1,000,000,000 tokens with 6 decimals, fixed. 80% is sold on the curve |
|---|---|
| Target | The curve graduates when it has raised about $10,500 of the pair. The target is set in the pair at launch, so its dollar value moves with the pair's price |
| Fee | 1.6%, 2.4% or 3.2%, chosen at launch, on every buy and sell, on the curve and in the pool, paid in the pair. See Fees on Solana |
| Rewards | The token's share of the fee goes to its holders or to the creator, as chosen at launch, and is paid out when the pot reaches $25 or on Monday. See Holder rewards |
| Liquidity | The pool's whole position, locked for good |
| Token | Token-2022, with no mint authority and no freeze authority. Its name, symbol and image cannot change |
The snipe fee
The fee is higher in a launch's first seconds. It starts at 99% and falls once a second to the launch's fee.
| Seconds after launch | 1.6% launch | 2.4% launch | 3.2% launch |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 to 1 | 99% | 99% | 99% |
| 1 to 2 | 79.52% | 79.68% | 79.84% |
| 2 to 3 | 60.04% | 60.36% | 60.68% |
| 3 to 4 | 40.56% | 41.04% | 41.52% |
| 4 to 5 | 21.08% | 21.72% | 22.36% |
| 5 on | 1.6% | 2.4% | 3.2% |
There is no exemption list. The only buy that skips it is the creator's first, inside the transaction that creates the pool. The snipe fee is split like any other fee.
The curve and graduation
- The curve is a Meteora Dynamic Bonding Curve: each buy raises the price.
- When the curve has raised its target it stops. The migration to a Meteora DAMM v2 pool needs no permission: anyone can send it, and whoever does pays its rent, about 0.017 SOL.
- The pool opens at the curve's last price with the unsold 20% of the supply and the amount raised. Its whole position is locked and nobody can withdraw it. The pool charges the launch's fee.
- A graduated token keeps trading on its token page, on Jupiter and on any app that routes to Meteora pools.
- An xStock's issuer can pause it. While the pair is paused, buys, sells and graduation stop until the pause ends. See Pairs.
